Friday Fun: Wooly Bully by Sam The Sham and The Pharaohs

Friday Fun is a new article for The Lost Soul of Rock & Roll. I will select a fun song to get you ready for the weekend. The first song I've selected is 'Wooly Bully' by Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs. This song was released in 1965 and spent 18 weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Sam the Sham is really Domingo Zamuido who was born in Dallas, Texas. Zamuido formed The Pharaos in 1961, but after some changes they became Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs in 1963. 'Wooly Bully' was not their only hit. They had Top 40 hits with  'Ju Ju Hand' and 'Lil' Red Riding Hood'.

I chose 'Wooly Bully' because it's a perfect selection for Friday Fun. The intro is a brilliant mix of Spanish and English, I had to find a clip from YouTube showing Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs in their outfits. Enjoy!
