Song #67 On My MP3 Player - Death or Glory by The Clash

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #67 on my MP3 player is 'Death or Glory' by The Clash which is the second track on side three from their 1979 album London Calling.

London Calling is required listening if you want your PhD in Rock and Roll. The Clash is one of those bands that has an arsenal of jams, and you can't go wrong with The Only Band That Matters.

A Case Of The Mondays - Sunrise (Come My Way) by Buffalo

I want to share some awesome early 1970's Australian heavy metal. Buffalo's Volcanic Rock is an incredible album that puts the "heavy" in heavy metal. 'Sunrise (Come My Way)', the opening track, is my selection for this week's A Case Of The Mondays because this will get you moving after spending all of yesterday stuffing your face with Easter candy.

Song #66 On My MP3 Player - Dear Mr. Fantasy by Traffic

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #66 on my MP3 player is 'Dear Mr. Fantasy' by Traffic which is the fifth track on their 1967 album Mr. Fantasy.

I heard the cover by Crosby, Stills, and Nash first and that led me to the original version by Traffic.

Thursday Under The Covers - Pavement Covers

This week I am looking for some cool Pavement covers, so let's see what's out there in YouTube Land.

1. Top Surprise 'Gold Sounds'.

This was the second selection on YouTube and Top Surprise is a band from Brazil. This is not a bad cover, but someone needs to tell the person working the camera that the female guitar player has a face. Just sayin.

2. 75th Season of the Ukulele 'Zurich is Stained'

Here is a cool video of a dad with his kids rocking out to a groovy track from Slanted and Enchanted. Spider-Man plays a mean harmonica.

3. Some people in a bathroom covering 'Range Life'

The bathroom is a great place to perform music, and I dig the use of light strands. This was excellent but Bonnie Raitt should have shown off her slide guitar skills.

4. Sofia City Sweetheart 'Trigger Cut'

Let's check out a cool acoustic version of 'Trigger Cut' from Slanted and Enchanted. The singer might be the love child of Zach Braff and David Brenner. Props for pulling of the dual vocal duty.

5. The Western Homes 'Father To A Sister Of A Thought'

This is my favorite Pavement song and it is from the awesome album Wowee Zowee. This cover is grittier and it is really good.

Song #65 On My MP3 Player - Date With IKEA by Pavement

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #65 on my MP3 player is 'Date With IKEA' by Pavement which is the fourth track on their 1997 album Brighten The Corners.

You can't go wrong with Pavement. 'Date With IKEA' has been a favorite of mine for many years, and this song features Scott 'Spiral Stairs' Kannberg on lead vocals. I have been to one Pavement show in my life and they opened with 'Date With IKEA', which was fantastic. Enjoy.

Getting Caught Up On Wednesday - When I'm With You by Best Coast

The Lost Soul of Rock and Roll is late to the party, but I am getting caught up on the music of the past fourteen years. I will use every Wednesday to get caught up on the music you kids are listening to these days. My selection for this week is Best Coast and the song I picked is 'When I'm With You', which is the thirteenth track on their 2010 album Crazy For You

I first heard Best Coast on NPR because they were interviewing the band and talking about their album Crazy For You. They played some clips and I was impressed because they had a lo-fi sound comparable to Yo La Tengo. I made a mental note to check out their music. Something happened to that mental note and it is four years later. I'm digging their music and the Lost Soul is now a fan of Best Coast.

Song #64 On My MP3 Player - Dangerous by The Neighborhoods

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #64 on my MP3 player is 'Dangerous' by The Neighborhoods which is the fifth track on their 1987 album Reptile Men.

The Neighborhoods are sadly an overlooked band that released some great music during the 1970's and 1980's. Their earlier music had a power pop quality and it evolved into an impressive hard rock sound. I've been a fan since the mid 1990's and the music of The Neighborhoods is well represented on my MP3 player. Today's selection is 'Dangerous' which is an excellent example of their later hard rockin' sound.
