Song #58 On My MP3 Player - Come On Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Runners

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #58 on my MP3 player is 'Come On Eileen' by Dexy's Midnight Runners which is the tenth track on their 1982 album Too-Rye-Ay.

The songs of the 80's are well represented on my MP3 player. I've been a fan of this song since it was the hotness back in 1982. One time I sang this song at karaoke and it was a rather decent effort on my part. That's all I got for you today. Enjoy.

Thursday Under The Covers - Come Dancing by Hot Sauce Willie

'Come Dancing' was the song of the day, so I decided to find a cool cover of this classic tune by The Kinks. My search led me to this cover by Hot Sauce Willie. Enjoy.

Song #57 On My MP3 Player - Come Dancing by The Kinks

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #57 on my MP3 player is 'Come Dancing' by The Kinks which is the fourth track on their 1983 album State of Confusion.

You've got to love The Kinks. Some think their career ended during the mid 1960's when the British Invasion lost its steam. The Kinks were able to produce some great music during the 1970's and 80's, which includes today's selection of 'Come Dancing'. I'm a sucker at times for nostalgia songs, so I hope you enjoy this song about the good ol' days of dancing the night away at the club. Enjoy.

Getting Caught Up on Wednesday - Locked Out Of Heaven by Bruno Mars

The Lost Soul of Rock and Roll is late to the party, but I am getting caught up on the music of the past decade. I will use every Wednesday to talk about a song that I've just discovered. 'Locked Out Of Heaven' was a big hit for Bruno Mars, and I'm really impressed with this song. Are they sampling the riff of 'Talking in Your Sleep' by The Romantics? I hear a little bit of The Fixx's 'One Thing Leads to Another' as well. It doesn't matter because this song is a jam!

Song #56 On My MP3 Player - Cliches by The Neighborhoods

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #56 on my MP3 player is 'Cliches' by The Neighborhoods which is the tenth track on their 1987 album Reptile Men.

I first heard the music of The Neighborhoods on a Rhino punk compilation CD titled Mass Ave.: The Boston Scene (1975-1983). The song was titled 'No Place Like Home' and I wanted to hear more of their music. I used to know a guy named Clem Lane and he was a great guy that was subscribed to a Guided by Voices mailing list. Clem was a guy that knew just about every bad that ever existed. I'm not joking. One day I posted to the Guided by Voices mailing list and asked where I could get more of The Neighborhoods music. Clem responded and sent me a mix tape. I became a fan of The Neighborhoods, or The 'Hoods as they are called back in Boston.

The Neighborhoods were a Boston band formed in 1977 and it was 1992 when they disbanded. The band started off with a scrappy pop punk style that matured into a slick rock sound. 'Cliches' is a great example of their later sound and I hope you enjoy today's selection.

Guilty Pleasure Tuesday - You Get What You Give by New Radicals

This is the time of the week where I share my musical guilty pleasures. 'You Get What You Give' by New Radicals is my selection for the week. This song was released in 1998 and was a top 40 hit for the band. I'll admit that I've liked this song since I first heard it on the radio or saw the video on MTV. For some reason, I hear a little bit of World Party when I hear 'You Get What You Give'. Enjoy.

Song #55 On My MP3 Player - Claire Monet by Screeching Weasel

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #55 on my MP3 player is 'Claire Monet' by Screeching Weasel which is the seventeenth track on their 1993 album Anthem For A New Tomorrow.

I was introduced to the music of Screeching Weasel back in 1992, and I was instantly hooked by the music of this pop punk rock band from Chicago. It was sometime during the fall of 1993 when I was CD shopping and I saw Anthem For A New Tomorrow. I did not know a single track on the album, but I purchased it with high expectations. Screeching Weasel did not let me down and Anthem For A New Tomorrow is my favorite Screeching Weasel album, so I hope you enjoy today's selection. You can listen to the song by clicking here.
