Song #57 On My MP3 Player - Come Dancing by The Kinks

I have decided to share with the Lost Soul faithful every song that is stored on my MP3 player which is a Philips GoGear Vibe 4G model. All posts are in alphabetical order. Song #57 on my MP3 player is 'Come Dancing' by The Kinks which is the fourth track on their 1983 album State of Confusion.

You've got to love The Kinks. Some think their career ended during the mid 1960's when the British Invasion lost its steam. The Kinks were able to produce some great music during the 1970's and 80's, which includes today's selection of 'Come Dancing'. I'm a sucker at times for nostalgia songs, so I hope you enjoy this song about the good ol' days of dancing the night away at the club. Enjoy.

Father Christmas by The Kinks

Christmas Rocks at The Lost Soul of Rock and Roll. Father Christmas, give us some money! The song of the day for December 21, 2012 is 'Father Christmas' by The Kinks. This song was released as a 7" single in 1977 and is also on the remastered version of Misfits.

This is another one of those Christmas songs that deserves more airplay. You can't go wrong with The Kinks, and don't think these guys were just a 60s act because they had some damn good music in the 70's. 'Father Christmas' is a fun song, so enjoy the song of the day.

Rock and Roll Fantasy by The Kinks

The week of deep cuts has come to an end, and my last pick is 'Rock and Roll Fantasy' by The Kinks. 'Rock and Roll Fantasy' was released in 1978 on the Misfits album.

The Kinks are one of those artists that I really like, I know nearly all of their songs, but I only own one of their CDs. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, David Bowie, and Pink Floyd are also in that category. My local libraries have an impressive collection of CDs, so I'm *ahem* frugal that way.

'Rock and Roll Fantasy' is one of my favorites from The Kinks. The song is about those that escape reality via music. I've been guilty of that in my lifetime, and I know there is a difference between using music to help during rough times and using music to completely shut yourself off from the world. Enjoy.
